Open Source Solutions

Municipalities can save money and accelerate innovation by pooling their resources to create free and open source software that meets their common needs. By leveraging open source as opposed to proprietary solutions, municipalities can hire more local talent to maintain these tools and find new and innovative ways to turn government data into value for residents. The principles behind open source solution can be applied beyond software to a wide range of fields including education (ex. free curricula), healthcare (ex. open data about available health services), transit (open API for taxi hailing, and more.
